Freshman Admission

Credentials Required to Complete an Application

These units must include English I, II, III, and IV. The College Board Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition can be substituted for English IV.

Mathematics

Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry and at least one-half unit of Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Elementary Analysis, Number Theory or Linear Algebra.

Science

Two units must be selected from Biology, Chemistry or Physics. (Physical Science will count as one of the required sciences).

Foreign Language

Foreign Language is required to graduate from Texas A&M. This requirement can be satisfied by the completion in high school of two units of the same foreign language. This includes American Sign Language.

Computer Science

Although not required for admission, a course in computer science is required to graduate from Texas A&M. This requirement can be satisfied by the completion in a Texas high school of a course chosen from the following: Computer Mathematics I or II, Business Data Processing, Introduction to Computer Programming, Computer Programming, Microcomputer Applications, Business Computer Applications I or II, Computer Science I or II or Business Computer Programming I or Data Processing. Similar courses taken elsewhere also will apply.

Note: A limited number of applicants who do not meet the high school credit or test score requirements may be admitted through our Summer Bridge Program for provisional applicants.


Transfer Admission

Credentials Required to Complete an Application

_ Application (parts I & II and Essay A).

_ Application Fee.

_ Official Transcripts (each college attended).

_ Official High School Transcript.

_ 2.5 GPR (includes all completed transferable coursework). Spring grades may be used in the fall admission decision if received in time and space is still available in the intended major.

_ Applications submitted with less than 12 transferable hours will include a review of High School coursework, as well as, test score achievement.

Note: To assist students transferring from one school to another, many institutions of higher education in Texas have adopted the Texas Common Course Numbering system. For information about course equivalencies, contact the TAMUG Office of Admissions at 800-850-6376.
