ADMISSIONS INFORMATION:

FRESHMAN ADMISSIONS:

Category I - Graduates of accredited Texas high schools whose cumulative grade point average ranks them in the top 25% of their graduating class are automatically admissible to The University of Texas at Arlington upon application as a first-time freshman during the 24 months following high school graduation.

Category II - Applicants who meet the following criteria and high school preparation are guaranteed admission:

High School Preparation: To be eligible for admission as a freshman, a student must be a high school graduate and have a minimum 20 acceptable high school units.

Language Arts

 

Required: Four units of English, one of which may be writing, world literature, speech, or journalism

Science

 

Required: Three units of science - physical science, biology I and II, chemistry I and II, or physics Physics I and II

2 units

Foreign Language

 

Required: Two units in a single language. American Sign Language may be used to fulfill the foreign language requirement

Mathematics

 

Required: Three units at the level of algebra I or higher - algebra, plane geometry, analytic geometry, elementary analysis, probability and statistics, solid geometry, calculus with analytic geometry, or number theory

Social Studies

 

Required: Three units of anthropology, area studies, ethnic studies, economics, geography, government (civics), philosophy, social science, psychology, sociology, Texas history ( advanced ), United States history, or world history

 

Electives

Who can participate?

Applicants for admission to UTA who have never attended college but have graduated from high school having completed the required units but who do not meet the required combination of rank in class and score on a standardized admissions test. Automatically admitted students with academic deficiencies in required high school units may be required to begin their enrollment at UTA under the Gateway Program. Applicants who meet all admissions requirements for UTA and who want to get a headstart on their college education.

READMITS (Former Students):

For readmission, a student must have been previously enrolled at UT Arlington and not have been enrolled for at least one Fall or Spring Semester. Student who have been continuously enrolled at UT Arlington do not need to reapply for admission.
