Address Verification

What is address verification and why do we do it?

The ApplyTexas application attempts to verify U.S. permanent and physical addresses for use by ApplyTexas institutions. Address verification is a process that checks whether an address is valid and deliverable.

Before an address can be verified, it must be standardized. This means it is converted to a standard format used by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

Changes to your address may include:

Once you submit a page with an address that needs to be verified, your address will be updated automatically if it is found within USPS's list of deliverable addresses.

If your address cannot be verified or is ambiguous, you will be given the option to try again, choose from a list of options, or self-verify. Self-verification will save your address as it is written. If there are errors in your address and you self-verify, any mail sent to you may not be delivered.
